Participatory information architecture
For each main type of questionnaire (free listing, Likert, card sorting) Netsorting provides an appropriate interface.
There are some informations that are presented to the partecipant in every type of questionnaire. At the beginning of the questionnaire, for instance, the name of the test, it's description, and the description of the questionnaire (all provided by the editor) are presented. At the end of each questionnaire the partecipant is aknowledged for it's help, and is invited to write it's comments using a feedback form.
At the beginning of each questionnaire the user is required to fill some informations: the gender, the age, the educational level, the experience with the web. If the editor wishes to try or to show a questionnaire to it's customers he can use the dummy page. This page is similar to the User form page. Netsorting labels this partecipant as dummy and presents the interface of the questionnaire.
At the first page the user is asked to perform the card sorting. The test is described and some instructions are given to the partecipant.
In this task you are asked to sort the items on the left list, that is grouping them in coherent sets. The list on the left represents the set of items to sort, ordered alphabetically. The empty lists on the right represents the sets you are allowed to use; to sort the items you have to select each item from the list on the left and to insert it in one of the lists on the right, using the correspontend buttons >> at the side of each list at the left. If you need to remove an item from a list on the right you have to select the item and click the correspondent << button. You are not requested to use all the lists on the right. At this stage Netsorting thanks the partecipant and gives him a summary of the given and omitted answers. The feedback form is presented and the partecipant is invited to write any comment or observation.
Netsorting presents the name of the test, it's description and the description of the questionnaire. The partecipant is invited to produce some items related with the test. In a typical example the partecipant can be required to answer to the following quesiton: What kind of information or service do you exspect to find in this web site? Please write up to 10 examples of things you wish to find in the site. A form with 10 text input is presented. The partecipant has to write there the answers. Pretty similar to the second page of the card sorting.
Netsorting presents the name of the test, it's description and the description of the questionnaire. The partecipant is invited to rate some items related with the test. Usually just the items of one group are presented. In a typical example the partecipant can be required to answer to this kind of quesiton: The following list represents the set of informations or services our web site provides (or plans to provide). We are interested in your opinion concerning the importance of each item. Please rate the importance of each item.
