Different metods of knowledge elicitation are used to achieve the different goals:

• free listing is used both to identify the contents the users espect to find on a web site and the lexicon they use;
• questionnaires with Likert scales are used to measure the importance the users attribute to each item; rate
• card sorting is used to structure the information in accordance with the implicit expectations of the users.
